Lego Lamborghini - Sian FKP 37 is latest hypercar to get the Technic treatment

Lego has announced the latest model to get its Technic treatment, teaming up with Lamborghini to recreate one of the Italian brand’s most exclusive models.

The Lego Technic Lamborghini Sian FKP 37 is the newest in the ultra-detailed series of replicas, designed to sit alongside the top-of-the-range Porsche 911 GT3 RS and the Bugatti Chiron on the shelf of committed collectors.

Based on the limited-edition Lamborghini Sian FKP 37 hypercar, the kit is a 1:8 scale recreation that uses more than 3,600 pieces to replicate the dynamic lines and striking features of the real thing.

Everything from Lamborghini’s trademark scissor doors to the raging bull emblem on the steering wheel has been recreated, with a miniature replica of the real car’s V12 engine mounted at its heart and matched to a working eight-speed sequential gearbox. The 60cm-long Lego kit also reproduces the Sian show car’s vivid lime green paint and features a retractable spoiler, just like the real thing.

Like the 911 and Chiron, the Sian FKP 37 is a serious kit with a serious price tag. Aimed at adult builders, it will cost £349.99 when it goes on sale on June 1. Like those other kits, though, the build itself is supplemented with “coffee-table” collectors booklets and a series of 13 videocasts detailing the creation of the kit.

The new model was revealed at launch befitting a hypercar with a fancy digital light show, smoke, dramatic camera work and even a revolving stage - all scaled down to 1:8. The launch itself involved 130,000 Technic bricks and 1,000 hours of work to put together a miniature version of a real car reveal.

Niels B. Christiansen, Lego Group CEO, said: “This new model truly encapsulates the pursuit of excellence embedded in the DNA of both Automobili Lamborghini and the Lego Group. Both the 1:8 model and the reveal itself are feats of engineering innovation, pulled off by incredibly talented teams from across our two businesses.”
