THE body of a man, believed to be a seaman, has been found washed up on the beach just west of Blackness. It was conveyed to Linlithgow mortuary to await identification.

ON Monday night, a sergeant and five constables from Leith arrived in Bo’ness to try and prevent any disturbances arising from the local coal dispute. Reinforcements have been sent to other mining districts.

JAMES Kidd, the prospective Unionist candidate for Linlithgowshire at the next General Election, addressed a meeting at the hall in Linlithgo Bridge.

BO’NESS and Armadale played out a hard-fought goalless draw. The crowd at the league match was swelled by the attendance of striking miners.

A BURGLAR struck twice in Linlithgow last Friday night, raiding one house in Braehead and another in Preston Court. The intruder ransacked the two homes while the oblivious occupants slept.

BO’NESS housing manager George Robertson has said he is prepared to call for the eviction of families whose son or daughter has been found guilty of vandalism.

Owen McLaughlin, organiser of Friday and Sunday dancing in Bo’ness Town Hall, has told rowdy elements they will not be allowed to close down weekly dancing in the town.

CREAMERY Park was the scene of a dramatic victory for Linlithgow Rose. They were 2-0 down with 11 minutes left to play but scored three late goals.

PRIMARY and secondary schools in West Lothian have been given top marks in a national standards and quality survey carried out by HM Inspectors of Schools.

BO’NESS Community Council has announced that the next holder of the McLaren Rosebowl will be former community councillor Chris McNaught.

LINLITHGOW Rose defeated Shettleston 2-1 to progress to the semi-finals of the OVD Junior Cup. The team now waits to discover its adversary in the penultimate round of the competition. Bo’ness United scored three late goals to beat Livingston United 3-0 in the St Michael’s Cup.
