THE 4th Linlithgow Guides celebrated this week after scooping £250 in a draw as part of Volunteer Development Scotland’s (VDS) survey of Scottish charities.
Paula Williams, unit leader, said: “This came as a real surprise. We haven’t yet decided how best to spend the money - we think some might go on long term improvements - some good craft equipment and some decent plastic storage boxes. We would also like to use some of it to reduce fees for a unit event to make it really affordable so everyone can come.”
The VDS research programme invited churches, youth groups, sports clubs and other charities to voice their opinion on attracting volunteer helpers, and those who took part were entered into a draw for a £250 cash donation. Over 600 responses were received by VDS with the survey results expected this spring.
