AFTER a decade on a Linlithgow road crossing lollipop man Ronnie Henderson has stopped traffic for the last time.
Ronnie (65) has been stationed at Springfield Primary School, helping children cross the road every morning, lunchtime and evening for over 10 years, after retiring from Hewlett Packard. But as pupils went home for the Christmas holidays, school was out for the last time for Ronnie.
He said: “I thoroughly enjoyed it and got to know the kids well, especially at lunchtimes. They are always a laugh and I will really miss them.
“They were very good to me at Springfield. They had a carol service on the last day of term and were very kind. I would like to thank staff, pupils and parents at Springfield Primary School for all the lovely gifts they gave me.”
Ronnie from Murray Drive in Linlithgow felt that at 65 it was time for other things and he is looking forward to having more time on his hands.
He added: “I’ll get to spend more time with my wife Christine (65) and the dog. I also want to join up for the next indoor bowls season.”
