Readers choose Bo’ness Hippodrome’s 100th birthday film

CENTENARY birthday fun will be marked at the Bo’ness Hippodrome on Sunday, March 11, at 7.30pm, with a screening of “The Ladykillers” (U), as voted for by Journal and Gazette readers in an exclusive poll.

The classic Ealing comedy sees a group of criminals, posing as musicians, hatch a daring payroll robbery while hiding out at the lodging house of an elderly Mrs Wilberforce.

She turns out to be made of far sterner stuff than they initially supposed! Alec Guinness, Peter Sellers and Herbert Lom (later of Pink Panther fame) all star, as a menacing professor, Teddy Boy, and hardman.

Alison Strauss, of Hippodrome operators Falkirk Community Trust, described it as a ‘comedy masterpiece’.

She said: “How wonderful it will be to be part of the audience for this classic film in the Hippodrome on the occasion of the 100th birthday.

“Tickets (£5.55/£4.25) are on sale now and it should be a sell-out, so don’t delay with bagging your chance to be part of Hippodrome history.”
