it was a case of if the shoe fits, then you can have it, when children from Chernobyl visited Brantano in Linlithgow last week.
The 17 children, boys and girls of a variety of ages, were part of this year’s annual visit from Chernobyl to Linlithgow.
Clare Cotton, co-ordinator of the Friends of Chernobyl’s local branch, asked Brantano if it could help the group as footwear can be a problem for the children.
Brantano were pleased to welcome the children into the Linlithgow store where they had their feet measured and were able to look around at the many styles on offer.
David McArdle, assistant manager explained: “It was lovely to see the children choosing their footwear.
‘’Their faces just lit up. We measured their feet and many were wearing shoes which were two sizes too small, so it was good that they now have shoes which fit properly.
‘‘Everyone went for trainer styles and it was a great pleasure to gift the shoes.
‘‘One of the host parents told us later that when the children got ready for bed with their pyjamas, they put their shoes back on their feet!
“We like to support different charities as much as we can and this was a special one.”
