a HEALTHY eating project - the first of its kind in the UK - launched at Linlithgow Leisure Centre this week.
West Lothian Leisure unveiled their new Eat Xcite programme on Monday with one of the country’s top nutritionists, TV personality Amanda Hamilton, providing advice on healthy eating, losing weight, improving sport performance, and feeding families more healthily. The project hopes to develop into full eating plans that anyone can subscribe to, along with ‘Eat Xcite’ classes and drop-in workshops available on a regular basis at Xcite venues.
Amanda, a former Scottish badminton international, is resident nutritionist for ITV’s This Morning programme with two best-selling books to her name.
She said: “As an avid gym user, I’ve always felt that leisure providers miss a massive trick in not offering easy to understand, relevant and practical plans, tips, recipes and inspiration to go alongside their leisure and sporting activity.”
Robin Strang, chief executive of Xcite at West Lothian Leisure, added: “For us, Eat Xcite will provide real, straightforward and lasting healthy eating information for our customers to compliment their physical activity programmes. We all know that diet compliments physical activity and we’re really excited about the launch of Eat Xcite, as it offers customers a complete health and fitness package.”
