IT’S that time of year again when children can’t sleep thinking about who will be who at the Gala Day.
Torphichen was quick off the blocks and have chosen their 2013 Queen Elect – a delighted Olivia Stark.
Olivia (11) is a P7 pupil at Torphichen Primary and when she heard her name read out, she was dumbstruck.
She said: “I was excited and surprised when my name was pulled out of the hat. I’ve always wanted to be Queen – I’m slightly nervous but it will probably be the best day of my life!”
It’s early days for Olivia who lives at Priorsgrange but she’ll be putting her family, mum Fiona, dad Tony and sister Imogen (6) who will be a fairy, to work in the lead up to the big day on Saturday, June 8.
She added: “I’m not sure what I’m going to wear yet but I do know how we’re going to decorate the house as a castle, with flowers and arches.
“We’re going to look at designs for dresses and then go to a dressmakers to have it made. I am really excited and it’s very special!”
On the day, Olivia is looking forward to getting her own set of wheels, saying: “I’ll be going round the village in a really nice convertible, and the two page boys in the car will be looking after my things. I’m only nervous about the speech.”
But multi-talented Olivia, who’s a keen swimmer and dancer, has nothing to worry about as she will have two of her best friends as her Ladies in Waiting.
