Kinneil Estate is playing host to a special evening of activities today (Friday)

For one night only, the museum is being opened between 6-9pm with a whole host of events taking place.

Kinneil House will be open for free tours for the first hour, last admission at 6.30pm.

The House boasts some of the best renaissance wall paintings in Scotland. Kinneil Youth Band will be playing outside the museum around 7pm. Inside the museum children can try the new back packs – or dress up in Roman gear.

The evening will end with a bat and nature walk around the estate, leaving from the museum from around 8.45pm.

Falkirk Council ranger Lesley Sweeney will lead the walk around the estate and, as dusk arrives, there will be the opportunity to look for bats. The event should be completed by around 10pm.

Participants in the walk should take warm clothing, take a torch, wear stout footwear and perhaps a warm drink.

Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs can’t go on the bat walk. There will also be free goodie bags (subject to availability).
