Queensferry High pupils are leading the way in academic prowess, and head teacher John Wood has plenty of reasons to be proud of his school’s performance in the SQA examinations.
When the results came out on Tuesday, there were no fewer than six pupils with five A grade Highers, a magnificient achievement and Mr Wood is proud of his school’s performance.
Stuart Dickie leads the way with Highers A (band 1) in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Maths and English, adding to his great results last year when he gained eight perfect Standard grades at level 1.
Modest Stuart delayed any celebration while he spent the day on work experience with a firm of Edinburgh solicitors.
His fellow students David Brown (16), Charlie Fraser (17), Kara Innes (16), Anna Reid (16) and Rachael Whitford (17) also gained five A grade Highers. David’s subjects were Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Geography and English; Charlie’s subjects were Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Computing, and English; Anna’s Highers were in Biology, Chemistry, Drama, Maths and English; Kara gained her Highers in Biology, French, Maths, Business Studies and English; and Rachael’s success was in Biology, Chemistry, French, Maths and English.
‘The pupils are the toast of the school and their parents are very proud of their achievements.
Councillor Paul Godzik, education leader at Edinburgh City Council, said: “Results show 2013 has been another really positive year for pupils and I’m delighted by all their successes.
“Our pupils should be very proud of themselves, all their hard work has paid off.”
