Senior pupils at Queensferry Primary School staged their end of year musical production at the Barony Theatre last week, June 23 to 24.

This year’s production was the Disney classic ‘Aladdin’ featuring the street rat turned prince.

Aladdin and Princess Jasmine, were played by Harry Manson and Scarlett Boath both of whom who sang and acted wonderfully.

They gave a lovely rendition of the well-known song ‘A Whole New World’, bringing a tear to the eye of many in the audience.

A larger than life comedic element was provided by the Genie, played by Gregor McLean whose song ‘Friend Like Me’ raised the roof and provided a big dance number for the full company.

Bad guy Jafar was played by Luke Cumming McMillan who, alongside his parrot sidekick Iago played by Struan Simpson Duff, commanded the stage with equal measures of comedy and menace during their rendition of ‘Why Me?’

The Magic Carpet was beautifully danced by Lucy Armes and the story told through song by five narrators: Leonie Martin, Jonathan Riley, Fionn Tunnell, Ellie Young and Lucas Armes.

Completing the principal line-up was Razoul the head guard, played by Callum Readle, who followed Jafar’s orders while trying to keep his bumbling guards in order.

The amazing set design, scenery and fabulous costumes, added to the rousing singing of the company throughout the show, took the audience on a magical journey to Agrabah, city of enchantment and the exploits of Aladdin and his princess.
