Weekend recovery cafes, run by Addictions Support and Counselling (ASC) in conjunction with Forth Valley Alcohol and Drug Partnership, have been a success in other areas and one will be opening its doors in Falkirk on Saturday, April 16.

Sean McCann, a cognitive behaviour therapist for ASC, said: “The cafe will offer those affected by addiction the opportunity to meet, listen to music, have something to eat, take part in mutual aid meetings, or receive one to one therapy.

“The launch will contain live music and hopefully some spoken word performances.”

In addition, ASC will be extending its existing peer support programme, where people with experience of addiction will be offering one to one support and mentoring to peers in early recovery in order to help support pathways out of addiction.

The service is also looking to set its very own community garden in Falkirk this summer, creating a place for different groups within the community, not just those affected by substance misuse, to get together.
