The Linlithgow Star and Garter Hotel hopes to sell a one-off beer and raise money for the Stephen Gallacher Golf Foundation.
Stevie G’s Linlithgow Ale, designed by the golfer himself, is one of the first to be produced in a new micro-brewery with a difference, which gives customers the opportunity to create their own beer in bottles labelled to order.
Head brewer Mike Ward, who helped the professional sportsman select his ingredients, said: “I explain the brewing process and the main ingredients to people, but it’s entirely up to them to decide what they want added, and the strength. I do warn them it might not turn out at the end of the day - but it’s fun trying!”
Co-owner of the hotel, Ross Wilkie, hopes to sell bottlings of the special ale in the hotel, and possibly elsewhere, with donations to the Stephen Gallagher Golf Foundation, which is enabling underprivileged youngsters to take up golf.
