A gift shop in Queensferry has won a city-wide window dressing competition which encouraged people to shop locally.
The city council, Federation of Small Businesses and Harvey Nichols held window dressing sessions in October.
The aim was to encourage window dressing skills in support of Small Business Saturday on December 6 in the run up to Christmas.
Staff at Maisie’s were presented with a magnum of champagne, donated by Harvey Nichols, after winning the competition.
Gordon Drummond, whose window dressing staff at Harvey Nichols judged the competition, said: “We particularly liked the traditional festive design.
“One window is nicely framed with Christmas bunting, parcels, berries and stockings, while the other has a contemporary feel with a stylish wreath and props.
“They are both stuffed full of Christmas goodies for all the family. The windows are effective in drawing potential customers to explore within.” Marie Munday, of Maisie’s, said: “Small shops need to offer something different and give customers a great shopping experience.
“We change our windows regularly and really make a big effort to attract people in.’’
Gordon Henderson, of the Federation of Small Businesses, said: “Small independent retailers like Maisie’s are a vital part of our town centres.”
