TO CELEBRATE the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee a special beacon lighting will take place at Beecraigs Country Park next Monday.
Over 4000 beacons across the globe will be lit to celebrate the occasion and the Beecraigs beacon, close to the restaurant, has been timed to be lit at 10.15pm.
John McGinty, West Lothian Council leader, said: “Up and down the length and breadth of the UK people are coming together to mark the Queen’s 60 years on the throne.
‘‘This is an extremely important anniversary and we are delighted to be able to mark the special occasion at Beecraigs, which is an ideal location for an event such as this.”
Provost Tom Kerr added: “The Queen will become the second British monarch to have served on the throne for 60 years which is a remarkable achievement.
“A beacon chain has now become a symbol of unity across towns, borders, countries and continents and is often the central point for any outdoor gathering or celebration.
‘‘I believe this is a fitting way to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and West Lothian Council is delighted to be able to join in the special celebrations.”
