SHOPPERS in Queensferry proved generous when invited to donate food for the UK’s most disadvantaged people.
Tesco staged a food collection at their Queensferry store over two days with a selection of tinned foods, coffee and tea being donated. In total, the donated items converted into 2542 meals. The foodstuffs have since been delivered to Tesco’s main warehouse in Livingston for distribution to food charities locally.
Murray Leslie, (pictured right), manager at Tesco in Queensferry said: “We would like to thank all our customers who donated items for being so generous. The items donated will go to ensure that those less privileged will not go without a meal over the festive period.”
The food collection was organised by Fareshare and the Trussell Trust, with the aim to address the growing need to support food poverty in the UK.
