BO’NESS Pipe Band drum corps is on cloud nine after scooping the British Championship title for Grade 4a drumming at Annan a week past Saturday.

Fresh from appearing at Fair Day, the drum corps saw off talented musicians from the likes of Ireland, the USA and Canada with their march, Strathspey and reel, to bring the coveted shield back to Bo’ness.

Under leading drummer John McLean, this latest accolade is added to the corps’ Scottish, World and Cowal Championship titles, all secured last year.

Band chairman David Archer said: “I am absolutely delighted for the drummers and for the teamwork shown by
everyone in the band.

“Our pipe major Colin McCluckie, leading drummer John McLean and committee work so hard all year and results like these really make it all worthwhile.

“Everyone in the band gives up so much of their own time to attend practice, travel to compete and to support the band.

“I was just delighted to be part of such a great bunch of players, and, like John, I believe it is a team result and achievement.”

Next on the band’s horizon is the European Championship in Northern Ireland at the end of July.
