Traders in Bo’ness have come up with a great gimmick to pull more shoppers into the town centre on a dull Autumn Saturday.

For they have decided to stage their first-ever spooky Hallowe’en family fun day on Saturday,November 1.

For three hours between 2-5pm the town centre will be alive with ghostly goings on and creepy capers which, say the organisers, will be ‘‘frighteningly good fun’’ for everyone.

The event has the support of Falkirk District town centre management staff who said: ‘‘See you there - it’ll be a scream!’’

A spokeswoman for the organisers said: ‘‘It’s been a while since we organised anything to promote the town as a shopping destination.

‘‘The annual Victorian street fayre has become a huge success and we hope that our ‘Happy Hallowe’en’ event will be scarily successful!’’

As well as fancy dress competitions - not necessarily confined to the kids - there will be entertainment from Children’s Theatre Bo’ness and Street Bratz, a children’s dance group.

The spokeswoman added: ‘‘Lots of flyers have been distributed to the schools and posters are being displayed in the shops. We even have a Facebook page so we’re hoping it’s a big sucess.’’
