Linlithgow and East Falkirk MP Michael Connarty says shale gas extraction must be properly controlled by a new commission.

The MP claims that such an authority would benefit the people of Scotland directly, ensuring that profits are retained here.

He said that it would also ensure the communities who are to take the brunt of such extraction work would be fully supported.

Michael said: “It is important to get in early. I want to see this in Labour’s 2015 manifesto.

“We don’t want to make past mistakes like having no fund set up from the North Sea. We need to set up a re-generation trust now.”
