Help is at hand for readers in the Journal and Gazette area with the launch of the West Lothian Trusted Trader scheme.
Those looking to find a responsible business can visit www.westlothian.gov.uk/trustedtrader to see feedback of work by local firms. Those without internet access can use the public access computers at council buildings, such as libraries across West Lothian, or contact Trading Standards on 01506 282500 to search on their behalf. The scheme will be operated by the council’s Trading Standards team and aims to increase consumer confidence, support reputable local traders through the promotion of good practice and help protect consumers from doorstep crime.
Tom Conn, executive councillor for the environment, said: “I am delighted that the West Lothian Trusted trader scheme has launched.
“It’s an ideal way for both local residents to find reputable firms, and local businesses to prove the good service they offer their customers, so it’s a win, win for all parties.
“We expect the Trusted Trader scheme to continue to grow as more firms see the benefits to them and more residents use the scheme to help identify firms they can trust with their work.
“Look out for Trusted Trader badge when you looking to hire a reputable business and please check www.westlothian.gov.uk/trustedtrader for more information, including reviews from previous customers.”
