Chairman of QCCC David Pomfret said: “We’re very grateful for this funding from CALA as it enables us to open up our kitchen space and offer improved food preparation to our service users from across rural west Edinburgh.

“The local health service has already expressed an interest in using the facilities to aid those who are recovering from time in hospital and need support to relearn domestic skills.

“I’d like to thank CALA for their good will and generosity.”

The charity aims to improve the quality of life for older people in and around Queensferry and offers day care on weekdays, a memory café for those living with dementia and a drop-in café for carers in need of support.

“I am absolutely delighted to have handed over this donation on behalf of CALA Homes.”
