The local tourist attraction is gearing up for another busy season ahead
Linlithgow Union Canal Society have recently craned the St Magdalene tourist barge back into the canal in anticipation of the new season starting on Saturday, April 19. T
he St Magdalene was built in 1990 and is named after a 12th Century chapel and hospice which lay close to where the canal is today.
The passenger carrying barge has a capacity of 40 people and under the Maritime and Coastguard Agency rules must be craned out for checks to the hull.
On this occasion LUCS staff fitted it with a new gearbox as well as a coat of anti fouling paint.
This year’s open day on April 19 sees a number of various events taking place.
