Community groups all had a part to play in filling a time capsule which has been buried under the newly restored well at The Cross.
Organisations including the Town Centre Management Group and Linlithgow BID were tasked with coming up with one item to put into the capsule.
Low Port Primary School pupils, the Civic Trust and Burgh Beautiful were also be asked to contribute.
A ceremony took place yesterday (Thursday) at the 19th century well and attended by Provost Tom Kerr, as well as the groups involved.
The majority of £65,000 investment was provided by the Linlithgow Town Management Group - which is funded by West Lothian Council.
The Linlithgow Business Improvement District has set aside a small fund for maintenance to cover water inspections and cleaning.
A small local bursary was also made available for the project which contributed approximately £2500.
The West Lothian Public Art Fund also contributed as the Cross Well is an important heritage feature on the county’s list of public art and heritage structures.
