Criminals have been targeting Bo’ness recently with a further three attempted break-ins during last weekend.
Police Scotland’s have said those responsible are not local to Boness.
Inspector Chris Stewart said: “There have been a number of Bo’ness house break-ins recently and we believe that those responsible are travelling to commit these crimes. I would ask the local community to check their property is secure before retiring for the night.”
A reader whose home had been broken into contacted us with his concerns that only German makes of cars were being targeted and, once stolen, were being shipped out of the country from Grangemouth.
The inspector responded to this claim saying: “Our assessment is that no particular type of car is being targeted and there is nothing to suggest that the crimes are in anyway linked to the port at Grangemouth.
“In fact, from our enquiries I am satisfied that there is no connection.
“In order to try and disrupt and arrest these criminals, dedicated patrols and road checks will be conducted in Bo’ness. We are also working closely with officers from neighbouring divisions.
‘‘These road checks do work and, only last week, we arrested a male in the Braes area who had just stolen a car from a house.”
