Pupils at two Linlithgow Schools will represent West Lothian at the Scottish finals of the Robert Burns World Federation competition.
Springfield and Linlithgow Bridge pupils took part in the West Lothian Schools Burns competition, organised by the Fauldhouse and Crofthead Burns Club, staged at St Kentigern’s Academy in Blackburn earlier this month.
Springfield had three winners, their P5-7 choir, Annie Knox (P7), who won the P6/7 solo singing category, and Esther Begarnie (P5), who won the P4-7 solo singing category.
At Linlithgow Bridge, P6 pupil David Easton won the solo instrumentalist category.
Linlithgow schools music teacher Alison Sharp said of their success: ‘‘They were all great! They are all a really enthusiastic bunch of kids. They worked really hard for a month to learn the songs. ’’
The finals for the choir will be staged in Armadale while the solo finals will be staged in Glasgow in May.
