Hairdresser Emma Young was shocked to discover her son Logan’s bike had been taken from their garden.

After speaking to the neighbours, who told her they had seen a young male hanging around the house, Emma took to Facebook to ask for help.

She said: “The post had almost 100 shares and people were constantly saying they would keep an eye out.”

The bike has sentimental value to the family as Logan and his late brother Jay had picked out bikes together for Christmas in 2013.

Jay sadly died the following March from an asthma attack.

A friend of the family noticed a boy on a bike matching the description and pursued him, however, she was unsuccessful in her attempts.

Later family friend Teresa Hamilton spotted the boy on the bike and challenged him about where he got it.

After threatening to phone the police, the boy handed back Logan’s bike.

Emma said: “Logan was thrilled to have his bike back and the thief even pumped up his tyres.

“I would just like to thank everyone that helped track down the culprit. Especially to our friends who chased and caught him.”
