Council worker charged with racially abusing footballer
A council worker has been charged with shouting racist abuse at a Kilmarnock player during a Premiership football match.
David Pugh, who works for Falkirk Council’s cleansing department, has been charged under the Offensive Behaviour and Threatening Communications at Football Act for allegedly hurling racist abuse at Kilmarnock FC player Josh Magennis.
The incident is said to have taken place during the SPFL Hearts v Kilmarnock game at Tynecastle in Edinburgh on February 27. Mr Magennis made the complaint to police following the match.
Mr Pugh has pleaded not guilty to the charge. He was given bail and will appear again on June 20.
