Residents in Winchburgh are in a flap about their duck pond losing its peace and seclusion.
And objections are now winging their way to West Lothian Council in a bid to prevent a developer from despoiling the calm and tranquility of the Glendevon pond - a favourite destination for generations of villagers out for a stroll.
I’ve worked for this paper since 1989 and had never once heard anyone say ‘‘Winchburgh’’ and ‘‘duckpond’’ in the same sentence until a few weeks ago.
So, when a 600-plus signature petition was delivered to councillors this week I went along to see what was ruffling their feathers.
Now I know - and very pretty it is too. More power to their elbow!
