THOSE who fund their lives through crime are being targeted in a new campaign by police forces in the Journal and Gazette area.
‘Made from Crime?’ is the only POCA (Proceeds of Crime Act) initiative of its kind in Scotland, and encourages local communities to speak out about suspected criminals.
High profile local action is being taken with police asking locals to report their suspicions, via Crimestoppers, about those who have no discernible source of income, but have flashy cars, jewellery, and designer clothes. Crimestoppers are working with the police to pass on relevant information to officers who will investigate these reports, which often lead to evidence of further types of criminality.
