Grangemouth man harassed woman and refused to leave home

Andrew Dewar, 51, appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday after he behaved threateningly towards the woman at addresses in Bainsford and Camelon on August 30, 2020.

Dewar, of 90 Almond Street, Grangemouth, attended his ex’s home uninvited, entered and refused to leave before preventing her from making a phone call.

He then turned up at a property in Camelon and attempted to contact the woman again, knowing contact was not wanted.

Sheriff Derek Livingston asked procurator fiscal depute Amy Sneddon if Dewar had been of good behaviour since.

Ms Sneddon explained there had been a “further matter” involving an allegation of stalking on October 16 last year.

Dewar’s defence solicitor said they weren’t aware of the further offence and had been informed a court-issued fine had been “paid up”.

Sheriff Livingston said: “If he’s been fined for the matter after this then he hasn’t been of good behaviour.

“In September, sentence was deferred for good behaviour then he commits an offence of stalking.

“Your client appears to inform you he has been of good behaviour. He hasn’t been.

“Bearing in mind he has breached the good behaviour matter, it appears to me I should call for a report.”

The court was told Dewar had also committed a domestic offence in 2018.

Sentence was deferred until April 8 for a criminal justice social work report, a Caledonian System assessment and a restriction of liberty order assessment.
