Jail time for car boot kidnapper

A man who locked his best friend in the boot of a car and drove him around for two hours to ‘teach him a lesson’ has been jailed.

David Mullin abducted Steve Lannen after luring him to a skatepark and covering his head with a towel.

Livingston Sheriff Court heard he planned the attack after learning that Mr Lannen had allegedly been spreading lies about him and trying to strike up a relationship with his former partner.

The pair struggled as Mullin shouted violent threats as he bundled Mr Lannen into the boot of his VW Passat, injuring his head in the process.

Mullin, 27, eventually dumped his victim in woodland near Kirkliston after robbing him of his mobile telephone and wallet, containing his bank cards.

Mullin was sentenced to 12 months in prison.
