Thomas Pearson (50), Seaforth Road, Langlees, told one of the staff members he would “take pleasure” in stabbing her during a chilling series of voicemails.

Pearson appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday having admitted behaving threateningly towards a man and woman based at Falkirk Council’s social work department in the town’s Hope Street between September 14 and September 19, 2019.

“They had received some communications from him which indicated he was angry about not being able to have full access to his children.

“On September 14, the woman attended work and had a voicemail from the accused in which he had said who it was.

“He called her names like ‘stupid cow’, saying, ‘Come down here and see the kicking you get’.

“He said, ‘I will take pleasure in stabbing you’ to the woman.

“The man also received a voicemail over the same time period and he recognised the accused’s voice. He was making a threat to run him over.

“The messages were saved because of the nature and the matter was reported to the police.

“The social workers had concerns about preventing contact because they were still working with him in relation to family matters.”

His defence solicitor said the social workers had flagged up the calls to police as there was a children’s hearing coming up.

The solicitor added: “Both said their opinion was they would still have communication with him because of the work they were doing with him and his family on a regular basis.

“There’s a concern about just how much he’s taking in. His way of reacting to things is extreme.”

Sheriff Derek Hamilton spoke to Pearson directly and said: “You can think yourself lucky the social workers have taken a particular approach to this.
