Police had to be called when George Haney (23) kicked off at an address in Roughlands Drive, Carronshore on June 27, 2020.

Appearing at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday, he had admitted behaving threateningly by repeatedly banging on windows and doors, shouting and swearing and uttering threats of violence.

Haney, 6C Hawthorn Crescent, Stirling, also pleaded guilty to having an offensive weapon, namely a sword, without reasonable excuse or lawful authority on that day.

Procurator fiscal depute Kristina Kelly said: “The complainers are the accused’s partner’s brother and father.

“The accused’s partner got wind the accused was coming to the locus. He attended and acted in a threatening manner towards one of them.

“The complainer attempted to calm him down. He continued to act in an aggressive manner towards both witnesses.

“Police were contacted and on police attendance, the accused was found to be in possession of a sword.

“When they attended at the locus he banged on the windows and the witnesses went outside.”

His defence solicitor told Sheriff Christopher Shead that Haney had received messages from his ex’s relatives which made “their views known” after a fallout.

The solicitor said: “They made it clear the matter was over and done with. There had been a falling out.

“When he was under the influence he went to deal with it. He was apprehended very shortly afterwards.”

The court was told Haney has a child with his ex.

His solicitor, who asked Sheriff Shead to consider imposing a community-based order, continued: “He was exercising contact and is hoping that will resume in the not too distant future.

“That’s been put on hold because of social workers’ advice. Given the views of the party involved, it’s hopeful that will change.

“He has engaged with the Change Grow Live organisation to get support for his alcohol intake and that’s been significantly reduced.”

Haney will be supervised for 18 months and must complete 275 hours of unpaid work within the next year.
