A man has been arrested and charged with a series of housebreakings and attempted housebreakings as part of Operation RAC.
Linlithgow and Bo’ness have been plagued by a spate of housebreakings which police said were carried out by criminals from outwith the area.
On March 31 a Volkswagen Golf was stolen during a break-in at an address in Winchburgh.
This vehicle was subsequently seen travelling with an Audi which had been stolen the previous evening.
Both vehicles were utilised in nine housebreakings and seven attempted break-ins throughout the Lothians according to Police Scotland.
The Volkswagen Golf was subsequently recovered and, as a result, a 24-year-old was detained on Friday, May 1, and was subsequently charged.
Detective Inspector John Kavanagh said: “Police Scotland is committed to tackling housebreaking.
‘‘This was a significant level of criminal activity at various residential and commercial properties across the Lothians.
“We are continuing to investigate to identify anyone else involved in these offences and anyone with information that can assist us with our enquiries is asked to come forward, or call us confidentially on 101.”
