School staff and pupils at Low Port Primary were horrified to find that vandals had struck over the bank holiday weekend - with devastating effect.

A recycled eco-friendly plastic bottle greenhouse built by the children was destroyed, and will now have to be replaced.

Head teacher Jane Livingston became aware of the destruction on Tuesday morning after arriving for work.

She said: “The people carrying out these mindless acts of vandalism to the garden at Low Port Primary School have no idea how upsetting their anti-social behaviour is or its impact on the school com-munity.

A West Lothian Council spokeswoman said: “Communities round our schools and nurseries can help by being alert to thisbehaviour and reporting anything suspicious to the police on 101.’’

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “Police are investigating after a recycled green house at Lowport Primary School in Linlithgow was vandalised between 4pm on May 2 and 12pm on May 3. Inquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is requested to contact us.”
