A 36-year-old woman has been charged with murder after an incident in the early hours of Sunday morning, and is due to appear at court later this morning.

The 20-year-old man was reported yesterday to have been in a critical condition in hospital after having been attacked in the street in South Queensferry.

Unfortunately he later succumbed to those injuries.

The serious assault happened on The Loan, near to Scotmid, around 1.30am closing the road while police carried out enquiries at the scene.

Chief Insp Mark Rennie added: “I’d like to reassure residents that at this stage this appears to be an isolated incident and following our initial investigation a female has been charged. We have now reopened The Loan to all traffic.

Police Scotland have not yet released the names of the accused or the victim.
