A group of volunteers from Queensferry who welcome cruise liner visitors to the town have won the ‘warmest welcome’ award at the Scottish Thistle Awards.
The awards recognise outstanding work in the hospitality and tourism industry.
The Warmest Welcome accolade is awarded to an organisation leading the field in delivering extraordinary customer satisfaction and a true Scottish welcome.
Cruise Forth volunteers, who are given financial support by Queensferry Ambition, are on hand in Queensferry to give a friendly welcome and advice to cruise passengers in the town.
Malcolm Brown, chair of Queensferry Ambition, said: “It is superb that the hard work of the volunteers has been recognised.
“They have done themselves and Queensferry proud.”
Edith Bowman, who presented the prize, said: “The judges said this entry exemplified what a ‘warmest welcome’ should be all about – a genuinely friendly service motivated by a pride in one’s home area.”
Peter Wilson, Cruise Forth’s project manager, added: “We’re thrilled. Our volunteers take great pride in their communities and want to share their enthusiasm for the area with visitors.”
