Deadline passes for candidates to step forward

Nominations have now closed for the General Election due to be held on Thursday, May 7.

The Journal and Gazette circulation area takes in parts of three Westminster consitutuencies.

These are Linlithgow and East Falkirk (sitting member, Michael Connarty, Labour); Livingston (sitting member Graeme Morrice, Labour); 
Edinburgh West (sitting member Mike Crockart, Scottish Liberal Democrats).

The full list of candidates is as follows:

Edinburgh West Constituency - Pat Black, Scottish Green Party; Mike Crockhart, Scottish Liberal Democrats; Cammy Day, Scottish Labour Party; George Inglis, UK Independence Party (UKIP); Lindsay Paterson, Scottish Conservative and Unionist; Michelle Thomson, Scottish National Party/SNP.

Linlithgow and East Falkirk - Sandy Batho, Scotish Conservative and Unionist; Michael Connarty, Scottish Labour Party; Martyn Day, Scottish National Party/SNP; Emmma Farthing-Sykes, Scottish Liberal Democrats; Alistair Forrest, UK Independence Party (UKIP); Neil McIvor, National Front.

Livingston - Hannah Bardell, Scottish National Party/SNP; Christopher Donnelly, Scottish Conservative and Unionist; Charles Dundas, Scottish Liberal Democrats; Graeme Morrice, Scottish Labour Party; Nathan Somerville, UK Independence Party (UKIP).

Polling stations open at 7am and close at 10pm on Thursday, May 7.

There is still time to have your named added to the 
register of electors.

Anyone who hasn’t registered to vote is being urged to act quickly and at any rate by the deadline of April 20.

Go online and register at www.gov.uk/registertovote before it’s too late.

It only takes a few minutes to register.

The deadline for receiving new postal vote and postal proxy applications is 5pm on 21 April 2015.
