The Newtown Bar in Bo’ness raised over £700 at their Stand Up to Cancer charity night, despite having just two days to organise the event.

Ian and Claire Temperly held a raffle at the bar with prizes donated by local businesses from Bo’ness and Linlithgow.

A signed Callaway golf bag was donated by Ian’s friend, Tim Grantham.

It was snapped up by Alan Reid, golf professional at West Lothian Golf Club.

Ian, whose mother and aunt have both had cancer, said: “Cancer is something that touches everybody’s lives in one way or another which is why we decided to hold a ‘Stand Up to Cancer’ night.

“It was pretty off the cuff really - we had the idea to do it on the Wednesday and then had the event on the Friday. I think it went well and I’m very pleased with the amount raised.”
