Four Queensferry High School pupils Sarah MacNeill, Michael McRoberts, Nour Traboulsi and Thabo Kalima excelled in their exams by gaining five Highers at Band 1.

Sarah (17) goes on a Gold Duke of Edinburgh expedition next week before returning to study Advanced Highers in Maths and Chemistry next year along with a third subject yet to be decided.

She was having a sleepless night when the email with the good news arrived at 3am! She said: “I couldn’t believe it and had to keep reading the email. I’m so happy all the hard work paid off.”

Michael (17) has left school to join Blackrock Finance as a trainee accountant. He took time out of helping at a Tae Kwon Do summer camp to meet his Mum in a High Street cafe to open the exam envelope.

His exams covered subjects from Accountancy to PE. Michael said: “I was a bit worried about leaving school early as none of my friends are, but now I am looking forward to it.”

Our photocall omitted two pupils as Nour was in Lebanon and Thabo was in Zambia over the school holiday period.
