midsummer Music is the latest offering from Torphichen Summer Nights this Sunday.
With music from The Euan Stevenson Trio with Lorne Cowieson on at 7pm in Torphichen Kirk, the audience is in for a treat.
“Falkirk bairn” Euan Stevenson’s first televised performance was on Songs of Praise with the Erskine Church Junior Choir when he was only 13. After study ing jazz piano at the Birmingham Conservatoire and composition at Birmingham University, Stevenson returned in 2005 to become one of Scotland’s most versatile and sought after accompanists.
On Sunday, The Euan Stevenson Trio is joined by trumpeter Lorne Cowieson, who will add his own swinging and lyrical playing to Stevenson’s arrangements and original compositions. Lorne appears regularly on the Scottish jazz and big band scene, as well as playing in salsa, Cuban and other world music groups. He has performed at all of the major Scottish jazz festivals with both his own groups and guesting with others, as well as further afield in Britain and Europe.
