Budding photographers and families well connected to charities and volunteer groups in Bo’ness are wanted as part of the charity town scheme.

Bo’ness is the focus of the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations’ new project Scotland’s Charity Town and the group has launched a photography competition, which will showcase the community, voluntary or charity activity taking place in the town.

The entries will be used on the organisation’s website and social media, with the best images being displayed at the Gathering, an event hosted by the SCVO, in Glasgow in February, where over 3000 people will see their work.

Spokeswoman for the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations, Charlotte McNeill, said: “We’ve been really struck by how active charity and community groups are in Bo’ness and we’re really excited to see how people capture this on camera.

“From the Bo’ness fair to the steam train, people in the town will be spoilt for choice on what to focus on.”

One image will be chosen as the overall winner and the photographer will receive £100 as well as an invitation to the Gathering to open the exhibit.

The SVCO is also wishing to speak to families heavily involved with good causes in the town.

Charlotte said: “We’re also really keen to speak to families who are linked to lots of different charities and voluntary groups in Bo’ness.”
