A Bo’ness husband and wife are celebrating after reaching a landmark wedding anniversary.

Jim and Mary Izzard (nee Beagley) first laid eyes on each other at Bo’ness Railway Station and this week marked their 60th wedding anniversary.

The couple were married at Craigmailen Church on March 13, 1954, followed by a reception at the Coffee House in Bo’ness.

They first met when Mary was working for Oliver’s paper shop.

One of her jobs was to
collect the newspapers from the train. Meanwhile, one of Jim’s friends was a porter at the station and it was through him that the pair met.

When they married, Jim worked at the Boatyard in Bo’ness before working for BP. Mary worked at Alexander’s Stores in Bo’ness before working at the Vat 69 distillery in Queensferry.

The couple have two daughters, Marion (57) who lives in Bo’ness and Kathryn (54) who lives in Brightons. Marion and husband Andrew have two children, Elaine (35) and Andrew (32), while Kathryn and husband Jim have a daughter Lynsey who is 17.

There are three great-
grandchildren Brooke (5), Meg (4) and Lana (2).

To celebrate their anniversary, there was a family meal at Marion’s house in Bo’ness with a meal and lots of cards and cake.

Marion said: “My mum and dad would like to thank
everyone for all their lovely gifts and cards. They received lots of lovely things
which were very much appreciated.”
