This weekend sees the launch of a major initiative for Linlithgow RFC.
A Girls Rugby event will take place from 11am at Mains Park on Sunday.
The session is an introduction to any girls - be they daughters, siblings, mums, aunts, friends or family who want to enjoy the delights of rugby.
The scheme will be run by their new female rugby co-ordinator, Laura Ellis, in tandem with Dougie Thompson, the club’s development officer.
Also taking part will be Sarah Quick, star of the Scotland Women’s team.
The club say absolutely no experience nor special kit is necessary. This is an opportunity to try the game out in a fun, safe environment - with the focus on movement, enjoyment and the values that rugby promotes. Just bring comfy sports clothes, a pair of trainers and a water bottle.
On the back of this event they are looking to set up regular girls rugby sessions with the aim for next season of having a female squad/team of senior school age. This will fit alongside the clubs other school initiatives including School of Rugby and youth coaches.
