EXTENDED hours for Christmas drinking have been agreed by the West Lothian Licensing Board.

All licensed premises with a 2am opening on Friday and Saturday evenings will be entitled to apply for an extension to 4am from Thursday to Sunday and to 2am from Monday to Wednesday, over the period from Friday, December 14, to Wednesday, January 2. No premises will be permitted to open beyond 4am.

All other premises will be entitled to apply to 2am for the same period. Any premises opening beyond 1am will have additional conditions imposed which include CCTV on the premises to agreed police standards; a person who holds a licence granted under section eight of the Private Security Industry Act 2001 must be positioned at every entrance from 10pm until closing; and there will be no admittance after 1am.

The board agreed one application and fee would be accepted to cover the whole of the festive period.

Applications must be received a minimum of 28 days in advance of all the dates on which extended hours are wanted. Forms are available at www.westlothian.gov.uk/law-licensing/licences/alcohol
