AN early-morning dog walker raised the alarm after seeing seeing a motorbike on fire at Muirepark Court on Tuesday.

Firefighters were called to the scene by which time the fire had spread to a nearby garden shed, damaging some of its contents.

Earlier, a passerby had called in to say a wheely bin was on fire, also in Muirepark Court.

A police spokesman confirmed the incidents but couldn’t confirm the fires were linked.

He said: “At 6.15am, a lady who was walking her dog called the fire service, who were in attendance when the police arrived at the scene. We also had a report at 5am the same morning that thick, black smoke had been seeing spewing from a wheelybin.”

He added that the motorbike was so badly damaged that it had to be sent for further inspection to determine the make and model of the bike..

Police are asking anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area in the early hours or setting wheely bins on fire to contact the national 101 number.
