An investigation is to be carried out to ascertain the cause of a fire at a factory unit in Whitecross Industrial Park at the weekend.

Following a call to the Scottish Fire and Rescue Operations at Maddiston in the early evening on Sunday, fire crews from Bo’ness, Falkirk, Larbert and Bathgate attended the blaze.

When they arrived at the building where, it is believed, an electrical company operates, they found a well developed fire involving a quantity of paper.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were committed into the fire with hose jets. Crews also used the Aerial Ladder Platform from Falkirk as a water tower from outside the building to extinguish the fire.

Group Manager Stuart Stevens explained: “The crews worked hard for some considerable hours to extinguish the fire dampening down the area and checking for potential hot spots.”

The extend of the damage has not yet been assessed.
