A gusty wind failed to dampen enthusiasm for the annual fun day at Ecclesmachan on Saturday.
According to co-organiser Kate Fleming, there was probably a bigger turn-out than usual for the event which can trace its origins back some 70 years.
The popular day out commences at Ecclesmachan village hall where residents from the village and from Threemiletown gathered before walking in procession behind two pipers to Oatridge College.
The college has a large sports hall which was pressed into use to host the races. In between times everyone tucked into sandwiches and sausage rolls before a second break in proceedings for ice cream.
Kate Fleming said: ‘‘The weather didn’t stop everyone from enjoying the annual fun day. It’s a long-standing tradition for the residents of Ecclesmachan, Threemiletown and the surrounding area.
‘‘The committee would like to thank all the residents for their donations on our recent door to door collection.
‘‘We would also like to thank Mr Nimmo and Rupert Eagers our pipers, Oatridge College.’’
