A dance group from Bo’ness Academy is celebrating success at a major competition – and getting a stunning 100 per cent mark from the judges.
The eight S5 girls who performed under the name G’olden Funk came top ahead of entries from 17 schools across Forth Valley.
A total of 650 dancers participated in the event at the Macrobert Centre at Stirling University’s campus over two nights last week.
The girls performed a humorous routine dressed up as grannies to the song Uptown Funk which they interspersed with snatches of 1940s music.
The Academy also entered a 15-strong senior team which performed a Wicked routine based on characters from The Wizard of Oz.
The school also entered an eight-strong team from S2/3 in the junior event.
Their performance, entitled Enchanted, went down well with the audience and judges alike.
The eight-person trophy-winning team comprised: Abbie McCallum, Ellis Alexander, Hayley Anderson, Anna Miller, Freya Anderson, Amber Taylor, Jennifer Whigham and Stephanie Sommerville.
They were choreographed by Abbie McCallum with assitance from the rest of the team.
Due to the great result and high demand for more performances, the Bo’ness Academy Dance Council has organised a showcase which will be held in the school on Thursday, April 23.
Tickets, priced £3 each, can now be purchased from the school office.
