A woman from Linlithgow has praised the community for their generous donations to her fundraising adventure - a trek along the Great Wall of China.
Leigh Willocks (43) spent five days walking part of the wall near Beijing, with work colleague Maggie Grundy, and raised over £3000 for the British Heart Foundation, a charity which means a lot to Leigh as her father died following a heart attack.
From Saturday, October 17 until Sunday, October 25, Leigh walked for miles each day in a group of 21 people with the Great Wall Discovery Expedition.
She said: “Each day was so different. For me the best thing was the sense of remoteness. On the first day we set off, it was forecast to rain all day but it stopped just as we started. It made it a wee bit colder but there was really atmospheric cloud which made for some really nice photographs.”
Her mother’s friend, Margaret Murphy, raised over £470 in the Preston area and Leigh is grateful to all who donated.
She said: “There were people who didn’t even know me and maybe don’t have a lot of money. I just want to say thanks to everyone who donated,”
